About Home Economics as a Profession
The home economics profession applies knowledge and an ecological perspective to challenges of everyday life for individuals, families, and communities in practices of research, lifelong education, collaborative service, and advocacy committed to working with others in improving human well-being. Home economists focus on creating with those they work, a shared vision of a life worth living and a more humane world.
Home economists value families as a core unit of society.
The Goals of the Association:
  • bring about a closer cooperation among home economists in different fields of home economics on Prince Edward Island (PEI)
  • maintain, improve and increase the professional knowledge and ability of its members
  •  facilitate communications and cooperation with other organizations in the province who share the same overall aim
  • encourage and support home economics students of undergraduate and graduate levels
  • promote the welfare of the family, the home and the community
